The D-Link DSS-5+ is a powerful desktop Dual Speed 5-port 10/100Mb Ethernet/Fast Ethernet NWay auto-negotiating Switch. Designed to bring switching to the desktop, the DSS-5+ delivers high speed switching capabilities at the lowest cost per port in the industry.It functionally eliminates unnecessary traffic and relieves data congestion by delivering dedicated bandwidth for each of the five ports. An individual port can connect to either an Ethernet or Fast Ethernet device. NWay auto-negotiation automatically determines the transmission speed of the attached device on each port. The DSS-5+ provides dynamic buffer allocation that employs network-load balancing for faster data handling. The uplink interface connection enables easy expansion. The DSS-5+ uses fast store and forward architecture to ensure low latency and high data integrity. It supports stacking though the MDI II uplink RJ-45 connection that is shared with port 1 for flexible media connection and expansion capabilities.

This switch is absolutely fantastic for what you pay for. This switch has extremely low latency when using it as well as a small kinda compact design. The only gripe I have about this switch is that it uses a power cable, and the power cable included isnt really long enough in my opinion.
Hurrah. Not much to report except that it's as painless as technology will ever get. You plug it in and now you have more ports. Success.
I've been using this switch non-stop ever since I bought it years ago and it has been fully functional.
I have typically been a Linksys only customer, but being frustrated with some of their products lately I decided to make a switch, and I'm glad I did. It's compact design makes it easy to tuck it away. I have yet to have a problem with the 2 that I bought, one for home and one for work. They have been running 6 months and counting with all the ports active in both locations.
This unit only has 4 ports availible. The 5 port switch works great. Unfortunately I needed five ports that I could use. The fifth port is tied to the dsl modem. If you only need 4 ports, this unit is great.
